2008 Scrapbook Archive

Four sisters having a visit with Debbie during Cedar Cove Days, August 2008.

From left to right: Bernice Bitz of Yakima, Wa.; Irene Mullins of Federal Way, Wa.; Debbie; Alvina Sizemore of Port Orchard, Wa.; and Johanna Russell of Yakima, Wa.

Charlene (Cherie) Hatfield of Belton was visiting our area and was able to meet with Debbie in the Victorian Rose Tea Room, August 2008.

Meet Drienie Hattingh, a fun reader from South Africa, now living in Utah, whom I met at my Borders signing in Salt Lake City during my Twenty Wishes tour.

We're holding sweaters she knit for the GUIDEPOSTS KNIT FOR KIDS program. (Hi to her knitting circle, The Knitwits!) Drienie is a member of The Eden (Utah) Writers Circle, and I love that she sent her mom, Ralie Naude, who lives in South Africa, a copy of Twenty Wishes.

Thank you, Drienie!

Meeting Cynthia Reed at the Borders signing in Scottsdale, AZ in June was a real "kick." Those are red boots Cindy is wearing, in honor of Anne Marie Roche's wish list in Twenty Wishes. I now refer to her fondly as "Red Boot Cindy."

Everything's coming up roses, thanks to sweetheart reader, Dagmar Zauels, who brought me these lovely roses from her garden when I signed at A Good Yarn in Prescott, AZ during my Twenty Wishes tour.

Note: Dagmar also has two lovely jackets that she knitted posted on my
Readers' Projects page.
A reader of my books for 25 years, Carol Gribble sent me this fun photo taken June 2, 2008 at Borders Books & Music on Preston & Royal in Dallas, where I signed during my Twenty Wishes tour.

Pictured left to right are Britney, Gloria, Carol and Melanie. (Sorry, I don't have last names!)
Where there are knitters, there are friends, and I found a bunch during my visit to KnitCraft in Independence, MO, during my Twenty Wishes tour.

Thanks to Rosann Northington for sending me the photo
!
Debbie shares a moment with reader, knitter and designer, Rachel Terrill, who designed 2 baby blankets in Debbie's book, Knit Along with Debbie Macomber, The Shop on Blossom Street, during a book signing in Portland, Maine.
Meet Wendy J. Arnold, who has been reading my books since I wrote my first Shirley, Goodness and Mercy story.

After I met Wendy at a signing in Las Vegas in 2006, I joined her Red Hat chapter for a brunch, and I was excited to see her again when I signed at Sam's Club in Las Vegas during my Twenty Wishes tour.
Caught reading 74 Seaside Avenue during a fall 2007 cruise from Seattle to British Columiba and back.

Left to right, Barb Fleming, Cheri Warner and Melody Lundren.

Thanks for taking "me" along!

Thanks to Stacy Kaplan-Watiez, pictured second from right here, who was visiting her husband's family in France while I was in Paris, we got to take a private tour of the home of Drappier Champagne, which was established in the twelfth century by St. Bernard.

Who's we? Pictured left to right, Michel Drappier, whose family has owned the company since 1803; me, of course; Nancy Berland, my personal publicist; Katherine Orr, Vice President, Public Relations, Harlequin Enterprises; Samuel Thomas, who gave us the tour; Stacy, Principal, and Leslee Borger, Senior Vice President, Truth Be Told, the firm Harlequin hires to organize and publicize my book tours, among other things. Thierry Besancon, a photographer, as well as a multi-lingual guide, took this photo.
On my way back from appearances in Dublin and London this spring, I popped over to Paris for a few days and had a delightful lunch at a charming restaurant with members of my publishing team there.

That's Clotilde Meyer, Deputy Editorial Director, Harlequin France, on the left, and Catherine Cussigh, Managing Director, on the right.

I now know why French women don't gain weight—they don't eat dessert!
I'm sure most, if not all of you have heard Delilah on the radio. Guess what? Delilah Renee—that’s her full name—lives a stone’s throw from me, and we’ve become good friends this past year.  Here we are in her recording studio.
In November 2007 I was honored to visit Mrs. Ruth Stafford Peale, the widow of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, in her home in New York.  What a lovely, gracious lady! It was only a couple of months later that Mrs. Peale passed away.   She and her husband blessed my life in ways I cannot begin to convey.
